Do you remember the moment you held your baby in your arms for the first time? It’s an indescribable feeling, but one that every new mom has experienced. A surrogate gives that unique and very special gift to someone else to experience. Here are the
requirements to be a surrogate.
You will have delivered a child of your own (or two) without complications. Ideally, you have not had miscarriages in the past. You had your children at 36 weeks + (unless a multiple pregnancy).
In most cases, your BMI will be 32 or below.
You are between 21 and 45 years of age.
You are a U.S. citizen and don’t reside in Nebraska, Louisiana or Michigan.
You don’t use illegal drugs or smoke. You don’t participate in government aid programs like welfare or food stamps. You aren’t on anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medication.
Your family supports your desire to be a surrogate.
You are willing to take injections.
And mainly, you really want to help others become parents. You’ll attend interviews, receive psychological clearance, provide your previous medical records and have a background check. You are ready to share in the responsibility and joy of helping build someone’s family.
